This is a short discourse exploring the origins of life and mind and speculating about their future. It was written by the late Emeritus Professor Bill Williams, AO, as “something to do” during a long flight between Australia and Europe. Bill was a pioneer in limnology who contributed greatly to world knowledge of that science, and he was a passionate advocate for conservation of species and habitats and the environment.
